Default Krytan Armor (collector)

Does anyone else use it?

I use it because:

1. It's free

2. Most of the time (apart from on warrior) it is quite good.

You can always get max armor from the collectors, all it requires is a bit of farming.

It may not have the best bonuses, but it works well.

Sometimes it looks best
15k necro armor

Krytan necro armor

well... imo

I love the look of the collector's armor as well, but I can't seem to justify using an inferior armor just based on looks. One day I'll get over that mental block....

I like the Ranger collector's armor, but never used it. Now with Factions though, you can get this armor with good stats, so it's usable now. Using collector's armor has always been stupid though.. Stats above look.

Collector's armor gives you base AL and that's it. This is fine if you're doing PvE and find yourself low on cash/resources. However, in a competitive environment (PvP) you'll definitely want more. I wouldn't want to PvP my necro without her Cabalist's armor.

For PvE characters I used to use it quite often. If nothing else, you could get max armor for the desert missions and the dragons lair. Now that you can get the collectors at the same time as the normal max 1.5k, I don't use it as much.. but it's still handy in a pinch.

I used it for my male ele main who beat phrophecies and did a lot of FoW and UW with him with it. Frankly, ele armor had the worst armor bonus stats in phrophecies (+10 armor vs one element, whopdydoo). I could totally get away with that and since nobody had collectors armor I got a lot of complanents for its looks. Many people even confused it with FoW armor.

Now though, a lot of male ele have Krytan crafter armor cause it does look pretty sweet. I got it as well since I wanted the new improved armor bonus stats. But even so, I wish I could look distinctive again on my ele. Part of the reason why I'm going to get FoW for him...

In Cantha, you can get collector's armor looks on Stat'ed armor from Armorsmiths

I tend to pick the krytan skin for my Canthan armors. But I'd have a hard time passing up the bonuses by using collector's armor just for a skin in Tyria

I'm shallow. I pick the armor which looks best, and if that's the desert collectors, well.. screw the stats, or, if the stats are THAT important, Cantha has the collectors with different stats.

btw, the female necro collectors is one of my favourite armors.

Was I the only person to have enough money for Drok's armor the first time I got there with my first character? I had him run at level 14 (after just reaching Lion's Arch), and I had enough money for both the armor and the materials.

No, you weren't curse you. I had a good 40k in storage by the time I hit desert. Just cause I could afford it though, didn't mean I had to buy it (like I said, ele armor bonus stats were near worthless before factions).

I go for looks!

Extra armour bonus is pretty marginal in GW, I can't say I see a big difference.

Collector top/FoW boots/Cultist rest
